August 14, 2026 — Popular AI-assisted development platform Cursor has officially been acquired by SpaceX, completing an acquisition process initiated in April following their joint training partnership with SpaceXAI.
The acquisition provides Cursor direct access to the world’s largest fleet of GPU clusters, drastically increasing compute capacity for training and running next-generation coding agents. Cursor’s team noted that this infrastructure will allow them to deliver significantly more capable AI models to developers at a lower cost, as evidenced by the recent launch of Grok 4.6.
By integrating into SpaceX’s growing AI ecosystem, Cursor aims to accelerate its mission of transforming software development from basic line completion into autonomous AI teammates capable of executing complex engineering tasks. While scaling intelligence to new heights, Cursor will maintain its core focus: enabling developers to spend less time writing repetitive code and more time solving high-impact problems.
